Calendar Events

As the situation with Coronavirus evolves, you may need to cancel or postpone events and have that information reflect on your website calendar. Review this article to learn more about deleting, postponing, and managing which events are displaying on your website calendar.

All events are organized within the Calendar Admin master calendar and may be displayed on any main website page using the Calendar of EventsMini Calendar, and Upcoming Events tools. All events will be updated through the Calendar Admin.

Delete Events

Within your Calendar Admin, you can select an event to open the event details.Delete-Event.png

At the bottom of the event, you'll see the option to Delete Event which will remove the event and all it's information from your website. If it is a recurring event you can use the checkboxes to choose if you would like to delete any of the recurrences of the event.

Postpone Events

Within your Calendar Admin, you can select an event to open the event details.

  1. Update the Date field to display the new event for the date.
  2. If you would like more description information about the date, the information in the Date Description field will appear in the date field for events overwriting the date information.
  3. In the description, considering adding information about the original date of the meeting and why the meeting was postponed.

Calendar Integration

If you have a Google Calendar or rSchoolToday calendar integrated with your website calendar, the events should be updated at the source calendar to see the changes reflected on the website.

rSchoolToday

To update the display of rSchoolToday integrated events on your website calendar, you will need to update the event within your rSchoolToday admin. Events will sync with your website calendar overnight or you can "run a live update" from within your Calendar Admin > rSchoolToday Settings.

Select Run a Live Update and then select Update to run a live update to capture events from current date to 12 months into the future.

Google Calendar

To update the display of Google Calendar integrated events on your website calendar, you will need to update the event within your Google Calendar. If you need the updated information to display on your website right away, you can run a live update to update the calendar events for your site.

Select Run a Live Update and then select Update to run an update for events from 3 months in the past, to 18 months into the future from today's date

Remove Integration from Calendar Categories

You are able to update your calendar categories so they no longer display events from your integrated calendars without updating the calendar settings. Within your Calendar Admin select Edit Categories.

Select to update the category that you update to remove the integrated events from displaying.

  1. If the "Is An rSchool Today Calendar Events Category?" checkbox is selected you can use the Add/Remove options to Remove the calendar for the rSchoolToday events you would no longer like to display. If you've removed all categories, you can unselect the checkbox.
  2. If the "Is A Google Calendar Events Category?" checkbox is selected you can use the Add/Remove options to Remove the calendar for the Google Calendar events you would no longer like to display. If you've removed all categories, you can unselect the checkbox.

Select Submit to save these changes.

Event Display

All events are organized within the Calendar Admin master calendar and may be displayed on any main website page using the Calendar of EventsMini Calendar, and Upcoming Events tools. Within each of these tools, you are able to select which categories you would like to display on your website.

If a calendar is displaying events that you no longer want to appear on the page, in the Calendar Categories section of the tool, choose the "Select Categories" option. You will then be able to use the checkboxes to select which categories of events are displaying within the tool. Select Update to save your changes.

If all events are canceled, you may want to inactive the entire tool and add Text/Graphic Editor with information that all future events are canceled/pending in status until further notice rather than updating which categories are displaying.
